Clean-up of flood-affected areas in the River Murray region has commenced. So far, clean-up measures include street waste clearances, sandbag removal, disposal vouchers, and structural assessments.
Throughout the clean-up, there has been a focus on diverting as much of the flood-affected materials from landfill as possible.
To date, 23,645t of flood-affected materials have been removed from the region, including:
- 2,854t of green waste and sandbags, sent to Peats Soils and other facilities for composting or to be used as cover material
- 9,774t of additional material diverted from landfill for recycling
- 11,017t of waste, sent to landfill.
