River Murray flood clean-up progress

Clean-up of flood-affected areas in the River Murray region has commenced. So far, clean-up measures include street waste clearances, sandbag removal, disposal vouchers, and structural assessments.

Throughout the clean-up, there has been a focus on diverting as much of the flood-affected materials from landfill as possible.

To date, 13,623t of flood-affected materials have been removed from the region, including:

  • 2,603t of green waste and sandbags, sent to Peats Soils and other facilities for composting or to be used as cover material
  • 2,794t of additional material diverted from landfill for recycling
  • 8,226t of waste, sent to landfill.
