Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) has released the heavy-vehicle-specific Moving Forward Sustainability Guide, with support from Green Industries SA and consulting firm 2XE.
The resource has been designed for HVIA members and provides best practice guidance on decarbonisation, circularity and sustainability risk management, as well as explaining key sustainability terminology, outlining recent policy developments, and clarifying reporting obligations.
Case studies from HVIA members who are already improving circularity and reducing their carbon emissions are also a feature of the guide, showcasing real-world examples of how practical steps can have a positive impact on sustainability in the industry.
HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking said the guide is intended to be a practical, go-to resource for industry.
“Our goal is for this guide to become a one-stop reference that helps members navigate what is a rapidly evolving and increasingly complex space,” Mr Hacking said.
Green Industries SA Chief Executive Josh Wheeler highlighted the importance of working closely with industry to drive meaningful change.
“We know the heavy vehicle sector faces unique challenges when it comes to emissions reduction. That is why we were keen to partner with HVIA to deliver a guide that gives members the tools, knowledge and confidence to take action,” he said.
The launch of the guide represents the first stage of HVIA’s Moving Forward Sustainability Program, funded by Green Industries SA’s Lead-Educate-Assist-Promote (LEAP) grant program.
The second stage of the program will see South Australian HVIA members take part in a series of free educational and training workshops, delivered by 2XE, that will support adoption of the guide into everyday practices.
Participants will also be offered one-on-one support to maximise practical outcomes and on-the-ground uptake.
Green Industries SA’s LEAP grant program provides funding to industry associations, peak industry bodies, registered business groups and organisations to support project and improvements that will drive resource efficiency and sustainability.
