Two new research reports exploring innovative approaches to circular economy challenges are now available, following the completion of projects funded through GISA’s Women in Circular Economy Leadership Scholarship.
The scholarship recognises women who are emerging or established leaders working in the area of circular economy innovation, including waste and resource recovery and remanufacturing, and allows them to pursue an investigative project of a kind that is not readily available in South Australia.
The 2024 scholarship recipients, Dr Kate Sansome and Dr Meena Yadav, have now completed their projects, with both reports published on the GISA website.
Dr Kate Sansome's report, Clothing Longevity and Circular Textiles in South Australia, explores how South Australia can extend the life of clothing and accelerate the transition to a more circular textile sector.
Dr Meena Yadav's report, Circular solutions for membrane management in the water industry, investigates opportunities to recover valuable materials from end-of-life water treatment membranes that are currently sent to landfill.
Both reports contribute valuable evidence to support South Australia's transition to a circular economy and provide practical recommendations for government, industry and researchers to explore new opportunities for waste avoidance, resource recovery and innovation.
