Green Industries SA (GSA) recently presented the 2024–25 Women in Circular Economy Leadership Scholarship to Ms Angelina Russo.

Ms Russo’s project, titled The Circular Textile Hub: A Design-Led Model for Textile Circularity on the Fleuriue Peninsula, will investigate international design-led circular textile hub models to evaluate their applicability to regional South Australia.

Expected outputs from the project include a comprehensive research report documenting international best practices in design-led circular textile hubs, an implementation framework for establishing a design-led circular textile hub on the Fleurieu Peninsula, and a toolkit for local governments and regional communities to assess feasibility and plan for design-centred circular textile initiatives.

The Women in Circular Economy Leadership Scholarship program, delivered by GISA since 2016–17, recognises women who are emerging or established leaders working in the area of circular economy innovation, including waste and resource recovery and remanufacturing, and allows them to pursue an investigative project of a kind that is not readily available in South Australia.

At this year’s presentation event, we were joined by past scholarship recipients who shared an overview of their projects, and the outcomes achieved.
