Circular economy in South Australia’s built environment

Green Industries SA is partnering with the Green Building Council of Australia, dsquared and the Adelaide Sustainable Building Network to explore circular economy opportunities for South Australia’s built environment.

The built environment can move towards a more circular economy through improved design, procurement, construction, reuse, re-circulation, and resource recovery.

A circular built environment is sustainable, regenerative, inclusive and climate-resilient, and provides long-term economic and community benefits.

The purpose of this discussion paper is to summarise the circular economy opportunities for South Australia, based on a national and international review of current policies, approaches and case studies. Past achievements in South Australia have been explored, as well as areas holding potential for significant benefit that could be driven through more innovation and investment.
